In addition to extra money for the Fund, there are TWO BILLS IN FRONT OF THE LEGISLATURE THAT WOULD PROVIDE $10 MILLION IN TAX CREDITS.

SB 257 and HB 861 are bills that would create a $10 million tax credit plan for the biennial budget.   This means that $5 million of credits would be available each year for the next two years.  Under this plan, a percentage of expenses spent in Virginia on labor and goods and services would be made available to production companies.  In addition, tax credits will be available based on hiring of first time workers, and on filming in distressed areas of the state.  The incentive program is estimated to generate more than 500 jobs for Virginia.
